Shining Packaging’s Open Top Metal Cans are engineered from high-grade electrolytic tin-coated steel (tinplate) for maximum durability and corrosion resistance. This rigid metal construction makes the cans 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly. Our design meets UN specification for hazardous-material shipping, and the tinplate is FDA-compliant for direct food contact. The cans also withstand elevated temperatures (enabling sampling of hot materials like asphalt or tar).Together, these features ensure safe, certified packaging suitable for demanding global markets in food, chemical, coatings and related industries.

We offer a comprehensive range of standardized capacities to accommodate virtually any need. Common volumes include 14 oz (400 ml), 24 oz (710 ml), 32 oz (946 ml), 46 oz (1.36 L), 80 oz (2.36 L), 105 oz (3.11 L) and 1 gallon (3.78 L), among others. Sizes cover small sample containers up to multi-quart/gallon cans. (Dimensions follow industry-standard can formats, e.g. #3 and #10 sizes.) Each can comes with a fitted metal sealing end by default. Optional Easy-Open End lids (tear-off steel tops) and plastic snap-on covers are available to meet different handling preferences. Custom dimensions or special volumes can be provided to match unique requirements.
Standard (Sharp) Rim: The top curl is finished with a sharp, punched edge for hermetic sealing. Warning: This razor-like rim should always be used with a lid. Handling without a cover can be dangerous due to the exposed cut edge.
Rolled (Safe) Rim: An alternate “safety roll” version is offered, where the can’s top edge is curled inward to eliminate the sharp flange. This smooth-rolled rim is easier and safer to handle, though it cannot be double-seamed with a steel lid. A plastic lid may be used for sealing rolled-rim cans (a metal end cannot be crimped on rolled edges).
Closure Options: By default, cans ship with standard tinplate lids for permanent sealing. For convenience, we also supply Easy-Open (EOE) tear-off metal ends and reusable plastic lids to fit sealed cans. The Easy-Open ends allow tool-free opening, while plastic screw or snap caps provide spill protection and reusability.
Uncoated (Bare Tinplate): The interior is left bare (no lining). Suitable for dry foods, powders, or industrial materials.
Gold (Aluminized) Enamel Lining: A gray/gold epoxy lining baked onto the inner walls. This lining provides a tight seal that preserves moisture and flavor, making it ideal for wet or acidic foods (soups, sauces, oils).(It “locks in freshness” for both dry and wet-packed goods).
R-Type Enamel (Rubber/Epoxy) Lining: A durable paint-like epoxy lining on the interior. R-enamel is generally used for wet or dry food applications and offers chemical resistance for a wide range of products.

Open top metal cans are typically made from electrolytic tin-coated steel, which is durable and corrosion-resistant. Some may also be made from aluminum, offering lightweight and recyclable options.
They are durable, 100% recyclable, and provide excellent protection against light, moisture, and gases. They can withstand high temperatures and are versatile for food, industrial, and sampling applications.
They are used for food storage (e.g., coffee, nuts), industrial chemicals (e.g., paints, solvents), and sampling. Their durability makes them ideal for transporting and storing diverse products.
Linings include unlined, R-enamel, gold enamel, and non-BPA options like acrylic or polyester epoxies. These ensure compatibility with various contents, especially acidic foods or chemicals.
Lids include standard metal ends, easy-open ends, plastic lids (e.g., LDPE), and re-sealable lids. These offer convenience, safety, and versatility for different uses.
Handle with care due to sharp edges. For food safety, transfer contents to another container for storage to prevent contamination or metal leaching, especially with acidic foods.
Sizes are denoted by diameter and height in a three-digit format (e.g., 303 x 406 means 3 3/16″ diameter, 4 3/8″ height). Choose based on your product’s volume and dimensions.
Yes, customization options include printing, labeling, and potentially custom sizes or shapes, depending on the manufacturer’s capabilities. This allows for branding and tailored packaging solutions.
Yes, they are 100% recyclable and can be recycled indefinitely without losing quality. Recycling saves energy and reduces environmental impact compared to new production.
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight to prevent corrosion or damage. Avoid dents and use a FIFO system for inventory management to ensure freshness.
